Falling Flat or Falling in Love: My Wild Ride Back to Miri
Share
Miri has always been my second love. And like all great loves, it has done the thing—it has stretched me and broken me, but it has also given me so much joy and restored my faith in myself.
Miri was how I discovered my love for creating. I always thought of myself as strictly logical and practical, so discovering this whole new creative side of me was incredibly freeing. I fell in love with the entire process: I love creating, I love using my products on myself and my daughter, and I deeply love seeing the reviews from my friends and family.
Because Miri meant so much to me, making the decision to close shop post-COVID was devastatingly hard. It felt like my dream was dying. It felt like I was letting go of a version of myself that I hadn’t really seen through—a version of me that I didn’t fully understand yet.
But I’ve come to realise that before we can launch something intentional, clean, and truly nourishing, we have to make the heavy, heartbreaking choice to clear the space for it. For me, that meant finally choosing to close that door. It meant shutting down the safety of past ideas, walking away from side projects that were quietly draining my spirit, and breaking up with the comfortable habits that kept me small.
It takes a terrifying amount of bravery to look at something you poured your time, energy, and heart into and say, "Thank you, but we are done here." It truly feels like a small death. But I’ve learned that this ending isn't a failure—it’s the quiet, necessary clearing of the soil so that a new beginning can finally take root.
Closing down the safety net of the planning phase and stepping out again has been the hardest part. But it’s the only way to finally step through the door of what comes next.
So, even as I start this journey again, I am honestly not sure if I’ll fall flat on my face or if this will be one of the greatest love stories ever told. I would love it if you would join me as I share a bit of this wild, wild ride that is a small business.
